BOM-based assembly time calculation

The HSmont system developed by HSi is available for the assessment of complex and extensive assembly activities. The goal is to derive assembly times based on BOM items. This is achieved by means of various search and comparison algorithms, followed by allocation of the times. Once assessed, BOM items are saved and receive the same time value the next time they appear. The system also takes into account degrees of complexity and assembly stations.

One item – one time

The bills of materials of machine and plant engineers require exact target time calculations for the single assembly steps. The assembly expenditure for each BOM item is allocated either automatically, rule-based or manually. It describes the activities for integration of the component or assembly in the next higher structure level.

Import and detection of multiple usage parts

An existing BOM can be imported from upstream ERP, PDM or CAD systems. When items that have already been assessed are imported, the assembly expenditure is automatically allocated.

Rule-based time assessment

New purchased parts or parts from in-house production must be assessed one time. For this purpose the fields in the BOM, such as item number and designation, are searched for certain terms and dimensions. The search terms are saved in tables and can be modified and supplemented by the user. The time modules and time values are allocated by means of a set of rules. Size- and weight-related time values can also be allocated.

Time assessment in dialogue

Assemblies containing items that have not been assessed are marked separately. The assembly expenditure of the BOM item is allocated directly by entering the assembly time, or by choosing a module or an analysis. Additional expenditures that are incurred only in the specific assembly can be added to the BOM by means of so-called Z lines.

Flexible allowance system

Even for the same component, the assembly expenditure can differ due to different general conditions. HSmont can take increased expenditures into account by means of an allowance system.

Self-learning system for faster results

The assembly times for an item are stored in the extended item file. Multiple usage parts are recognised in subsequent calculations and the time value is automatically allocated.
